On Wednesday, December 3rd, the first and second year students from MFA Film took the trip down to the Trilith Studios, one of the largest soundstage and production facilities in the entire world.

With over 700 acres of available production facilities, Trilith Studios is nestled just South of Atlanta, in Fayetteville, Georgia and has been called home by some of the most popular movies and television shows in recent memory. Select examples include Superman (2025), Saturday Night (2024), Love is Blind (season 1), as well as many films and tv shows from within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Students began their day by meeting with the founder and chief visionary of Trilith Studios, Dan T. Cathy as well as the Trilith Institute President Jeffrey Stepakoff. Cathy and Stepakoff graciously shared their industry insights and answered students’ questions about the Georgia’s film industry.

Next, the Trilith Institute’s Josh Lee and Mandy McCowan presented to students about the institute’s mission and goals as well as internship and class opportunities that they offer to students during their time in school and post-graduation.

After, students were taken on a private tour of the Trilith Studios lot and the new Trilith Live Entertainment Center by members of the Trilith Foundation. Students were able to see, first-hand, the stages that served as the production hub of many of the world’s most popular movies and TV shows.

The tour included alumni Skyla Montgomery (MFA’25) and Promise Robinson (MFA’25) who gave the current cohorts a guided experience through different parts of the production complex. The MFA students were welcomed by the hospitality of the Trilith teams, and got to see the full scope of the Trilith development.
