THAT’S A WRAP!
On Thursday, November 6th, first-year and second-year MFA students gathered at Athena SPLC to celebrate wrapping production on the first-year fall short films and developing second-year thesis films.

During October, the Class of ’27 cohort shot a total of 14 short films across a wide variety of subjects and genres. Each student wrote, produced, and directed their own short film, and also worked on other students’ films in roles across production departments.
At the end of a long month of filming and development, to reflect on production and celebrate their hard work, the students gathered at Athena SPLC for a Halloween-themed wrap party featuring music, trivia, food, and arts & crafts.

Some students shot on MFA Film’s soundstages at the Athena Studio Production Learning Center, and others partnered with both University of Georgia locations and Athens-area vendors and residences to shoot their films all across the city.

The Class of ’26 cohort has been writing and developing their thesis short films throughout the fall semester, diving into preparations for their Spring 2026 production period.

While the first-year students continue to work hard through postproduction for their films, second-year students continue to prepare for their upcoming thesis films.
First-year fall short films will be screened on Saturday, December 6 at UGA’s Fine Arts Building, Balcony Theatre 400.
