MFA Film alum Jane Negreira’s (CO’25) short film “Encierro” has been officially selected for the 2026 Atlanta Film Festival. Congrats!
The film was Jane’s final thesis project for the MFA Film Program as Writer-Director, was produced by fellow alum David White (CO’25), and edited by alum Sophie Schieve (CO’25).
ENCIERRO tells the story of a woman haunted by eerie sounds and her mother’s voice. She journeys through nightmarish realms, battling societal expectations to reclaim her identity and break free.
The film was shot in Spring of 2025 during the alumni’s second and final year of the program, and was first screened at the MFA Film Convocation the following August.
The 2026 Atlanta Film Festival will run from April 23rd through May 3rd this year. In addition to official selection, “Encierro” will also be eligible for both the Audience Award and Jury Award at the festival.
